Project Engineer

The Project Engineer will work across a range of projects and outages throughout Queensland and New South Wales requiring extended periods of time away from home. 

About the role

You will be a key contact across the designated projects and outages and will be responsible for the coordination of equipment and sub-contract personnel requirements, cost control, project controls, reporting and forecasting as required.

About You 

You will inspire your team, draw on their diverse skills and create an environment where great ideas are heard, and everyone looks out for one another. Ideally you will have:

  • Tertiary qualification – Engineering stream preferred but not essential
  • Minimum 5 years project controls experience in a similar industry
  • Knowledge of financial management systems – SAP and / or Pronto preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in delivery of shutdowns / outages within heavy industry
  • Developed skills in developing project scope, planning and estimating and project delivery
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and understand project controls concepts including Earnt Value, S-Curves, Cost to Complete, burn rates and forecasting
  • Previous experience in sub-contractor engagement and management including timesheets, claims and accruals
  • Reporting cost overruns or outage / project budgetary concerns
  • Experience from a purchasing / procurement background – requesting quotes, creating requisition, expediting of goods and services, goods receipting and invoicing
  • Demonstrated previous experience within the Power Generation Industry highly regarded

Key responsibility areas

  • Ensure all onsite works are completed in line with UGL’s Health & Safety safe work policies and procedures
  • Work closely with stakeholders for the estimating and planning of project works
  • Work with UGL Superintendent and Supervisors to ensure project delivery outcomes are met, resources are managed, and spares and materials are available as required
  • Coordinate subcontractors for the delivery of outsourced tasks to ensure cohesive project outcomes
  • Develop project cost estimate, monitor and control costs
  • Work closely with supervisors to ensure scope changes are managed and documented in accordance with he approved variation management procedure
