Role Details:

Reporting to the Senior Engineer: Geotechnical, you will be responsible for the provision of a qualified geotechnical support service within the mine that will assist in the achievement of budget development, production, meeting all quality standards including cost, safety, and environment.

This role is offered on 8 days on 6 days off and is Fly in Fly out from Perth.

About the role:

  • Provide a geotechnical service to the mine through understanding, complying, mentoring and liaising with business partners to promote full statutory compliance with mining regulations, legislation and company safety objectives relevant to ground control.
  • Daily production tasks relating to geotechnical engineering including review of development plans, blast plans, documentation of inspections and data collection, geotechnical monitoring, rehabilitation plans, stope design, level plan design, paste backfill design, and ground support QAQC.
  • Collect and investigate geotechnical parameters to ensure future mining recommendations are forthcoming when required.
  • Capable of running geotechnical aspects of a mine with some input from other senior staff and undertake work for medium term projects.
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of excavation design, planning, geological and operational issues to identify and communicate potential opportunities and concerns.
  • Collaborate and investigate geotechnical data including effective recognition, investigation, analysis of rock fall events and ground control issues.  Update and report on the rock fall, seismic and other databases where applicable.
  • Ensure that geotechnical life of mine contributions is of the highest quality by establishing design parameters, modelling and advising on the most appropriate mine design and sequence including future mine projects.

About you:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering or Geology with Post Graduate qualifications in Geomechanics
  • Previous experience in Geotechnical Engineering within mining is advantageous.
  • Operational experience in underground mining is preferred.
  • Knowledge of relevant statutory obligations
  • Experience using Deswik, Rocsience™ suite, IMS software, mXrap & Map3D
  • Project/Cost Management Training would be highly regarded.
