Goonyella Riverside is a large open cut coking coal mine in the Bowen Basin. It is 30km north of Moranbah. The Goonyella Mine merged with the adjacent Riverside open cut mine in 1989. Goonyella is a reasonably large mine taking 30-40 minutes to drive from one end to the other and unlike some of the other mines it is made up of continuous pits, not a series of small pits. Coal from the Goonyella Mine is transported by rail to the coal export terminals at Dalrymple Bay and Hay Point from where it is exported to the company’s customers in India, China, South Korea, Latin America and Europe. 
 

This role is offered on a Lifestyle 7/7 Day/ Night roster pattern arrangement on a Drive-In-Drive-Out (DIDO) basis.

About the Role

We are seeking applications from certified candidates for the role of Tyre Technician. In this role you will report to the Tyre Bay Supervisor and be part of the Mine Maintenance team, carrying out tyre fitting activities for heavy mobile machinery.
 

In this role you will:
 

  • Comply to and consistently follow the standards and procedures designed to enable you to work safely and effectively every day
  • Perform regular tyre pressure and tread depth checks
  • Source technical information from computer-based systems
  • Be able to work in accordance with the site’s procedures and within a team environment
  • Be able to work in a team as well as with minimal supervision
  • Maintain a high level of housekeeping in the workshops
  • Undertaking training and upskilling as required

About You

  • Proven commitment to look after your own wellbeing and the confidence to speak up when others put themselves in harm’s way
  • Current Tyre Fitting Certification (essential)
  • Significant experience in fitting heavy earthmoving tyres
  • Current Standard 11 (S11) or ability to obtain
  • Computer literacy and experience in 1SAP or similar applications
  • Current full Drivers Licence
  • Flexible, team-orientated approach with proactive communications skills
