About John Holland

At John Holland, our purpose is simple – we transform lives with everything we do.
We’ve always known that infrastructure is about people — our customers, our employees, and the communities in which we work every day.
That’s our difference. Deep experience and capability with a genuine care about creating better lives for people along the way.
Be part of the team that’s up for the challenge of transforming lives.

About the project:

Gold Coast Light Rail has transformed public transport on the Gold Coast, helping create an integrated network that connects more people to more places in one of Australia’s most dynamic and fastest growing cities.
John Holland is GoldlinQ’s recommended design and construction contractor for GCLR3, to extend the existing light rail network by 6.7 kms from Broadbeach to Burleigh Heads, including eight new light rail stations, two new light rail-bus connections, and intersection upgrades along the alignment.
Jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland governments, and the City of Gold Coast, this city-shaping project will link communities to business centres, shopping, dining, education, and medical facilities and cater to the Gold Coast’s expected population growth in the coming decades.
As we begin to ramp up activities on this iconic Queensland project, we are looking for a Site Engineer to join our Track team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor quality and quantities of incoming equipment and material.
  • Conduct and administer overall job planning and programming including short range and intermediate activities for construction projects for approval by the Project Manager.
  • Demonstrate financial management skills including demonstrated behaviour in reducing costs and meeting budgets.
  • Implement and communicate risk controls and actions involved in delivery and implementation of the project.
  • Reporting on project performance, compliance and defects and/or non-conformance.
  • Assist in the development of estimates and submissions for the track scope.

What we are looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Experience in a Site Engineer role (ideally in Track).
  • Demonstrated skills in programming, cost control, quality assurance, safety and supervision/people management.
  • Ability and strong commitment to work as part of a team.
