About the Project  

The ICF fibre network is an iconic project that only comes around once in a lifetime, It involves the renewal/upgrade of the existing inter-city network across the Nation. The new inter-city fibre cable uses technically improved optic fibre cable, and architecture which will provide additional capacity between capital cities and remote communities to enhance performance and improve connectivity to regional Australia which will support the anticipated growth in bandwidth over the next 25+ years. 

About The Role
Reporting to the National Project Manager the Senior Project Engineer will take a lead role managing the project deliverables, timeframes and key milestones. The incumbent will directly liaise and provide progress updates to the client as well as mitigating any risks or issues that arise. 

The Senior Project Engineer will have a background in leading and driving performance on projects as well as tracking financial reporting. 

Note: The successful candidate can be based in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane. 

What you’ll be doing:

  • Report on project progression in weekly/monthly client meetings  
  • Manage, track and report on financial costings including variations 
  • Manage, review and upgrade Programme at Work Release (Sequencing, Delays etc)
  • Manage all Contract Trades through the weekly programme and convey to relevant Field Managers/Area Managers to ensure prompt start dates when work made available.
  • Track and analyse the performance of contractors to ensure objectives are met.
  • Review Completion progress including financial spend against forecasted projections
  • Initiate design change management
  • Ongoing Review of Open Defects
  • Review and update progress weekly
  • Month end processing of Contractor Claims

About You 

You will have a Tertiary Qualifications in Civil/Electrical/Telecommunications Engineering or Equivalent, accompanied with practical experience in the delivery of infrastructure / construction projects. 

You will also possess:

  • Ideally 5 years’ engineering experience in delivering telecommunication projects. 
  • Good understanding of telecommunications pit and pipe and aerial fibre optic network infrastructure
  • Proven record of dealing with key stakeholders, including workforce and sub-contractors. 
  • Experience in forecasting and programme management
  • Proven record of project reporting
