The Opportunity

MinRes is seeking an experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer on an 8×6 roster, supporting our operating mines in Western Australia.  As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you will assist the Superintendent for Operations and Principal Geotechnical Engineer with the execution of a range of responsibilities including geotechnical design planning, investigation execution, hazard management, and performance monitoring related to mining operations. This role supports the implementation and oversight of the Ground Control Management Plan across our sites.

  • Execute, audit, and update the Ground Control Management Plan (GCMP) and associated ground control registers across our operating mines to ensure compliance and to effectively manage geotechnical risks across MinRes mine sites.
  • Provide risk-based geotechnical guidance to operational mine sites on open pit and waste landform design, execution practices, hazard management, and response to performance monitoring.
  • Geotechnical data acquisition and management across the operating mine sites to meet the ongoing needs of the operations.
  • Coordinate and implement initiatives to enhance operational monitoring systems, standardising and integrating them into a centralised configuration.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for improvement to ensure compliance with external reviews and audits, as well as alignment with relevant regulations.
  • Provide technical leadership and support during the scoping and execution of field investigations to ensure project deliverables meet current and future operational requirements.

What is Required?

  • Tertiary Degree in Civil, Geological Engineering/ or Engineering Geology (or related geological discipline)
  • Proven 8 years of experience in open-cut mining geotechnics and open-pit mining, including a good understanding of mine geology and open-pit practices
  • Proficient utilising 3D mine planning software such as VULCAN and SURPAC  
  • Sound skills with industry-standard mining and geotechnical monitoring software and systems, including slope stability software.
  • Relevant experience with involvement in geotechnical investigation programs (logging, management and collation of data);
  • Strong project management skills (designing and executing field programs)
