Project Overview:
Minsters North (MN) is an Above Water Table (AWT) Brockman iron ore deposit located 13km south-east of the Jugari hub. The Project proposes to utilise Jugari latent processing and rail capacity through the development of MN as a satellite ore body.
The Project throughput of 20Mtpa will be transported from the MN to the processing plant at Jugari via haul trucks (CAT 793s). The Run of Mine (ROM) ore will be processed at Jugari via a combination of new and existing processing facilities before being transported to port via BHP’s existing rail network
A summary of facilities to be developed for MN is provided below:
- New primary crusher, crushed ore scalping screen and secondary crusher at the Jugari Eastern Front End (EFE). Modifications to Ore Handling Plant 3 (OHP3) to handle Brockman type ore. Outflow will be via the existing load out facilities;
- A single formation Light Vehicle (LV) and Heavy Vehicle (HV) haul road linking the MN orebody to the process facilities at the EFE. A grade separated crossing will be constructed over the RTIO Jugari railway. Length of haul road to be constructed is 13km;
- NPI infrastructure at MN, including an office, ablution, crib room, HV/LV Park up, HV/LV refuelling and dome HV workshop;
- Power and communications, to the NPI facilities from Jugari via a new 33kV overhead distribution line;
- Raw water Transfer Tank and Pump station for MN and Yandi Operations, supplied by the CPHSW scheme and distributed via a pipeline network;
- MN Turkeys nest and HV/LV standpipes;
- Wireless communications infrastructure and services to support integration between Jugari and MN deposit to enable construction, mining, crushing and OHP3 operations inclusive of brownfields upgrades where required (pending BHP scope definition); and
- An existing BHP 132kV transmission line, relocated to outside of the MN mine blasting radius.
Job Summary:
In this role, you will manage a team and provide field engineering leadership for work planning and packaging, material management, quantity validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and coordination of system turnover and subcontracts. Your oversight will ensure field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements.
Major Responsibilities:
On larger (PFE Tier II – >$1B and/or >1500 craft) or more complex jobs, performs the duties of the Project Field Engineer, responsible for coordination of all activities related to the area of responsibility and interfacing with all other operating sections of the job-site.
Leadership/Supervision
- Proactively engages with their teams’ development through CPM, competency development/assessment and feedback.
- Develops and recommends the construction engineering staffing plan for approval by the Site Manager (or appropriate level of Project Management) and prepares employee requisitions.
- Directs construction engineering activities of the assigned construction engineering staff, ensuring compliance with procedures.
Work Planning & Packaging
- Directs the design of temporary construction facilities as required.
Material Management
- Directs preparation of requisitions for field procured materials, material substitution, services, equipment.
Quantities
- Possesses responsibility for quantity take-off, control, reporting and forecasting.
Safety / Quality Control
- Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
STR / Subcontract Coordinator
- Reviews and approves inspection test plans.
- Coordinates reviews of subcontractor submittals.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires bachelor’s or master’s degree (or international equivalent) and 13-15 years of relevant experience or 17-19 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Understanding of applicable Bechtel work processes, including Standard Work Process Procedures, is preferred.
- Familiarity with Bechtel Standard Applications (BSAPs), including TEAMWorks, Infoworks or Aconex, BPS or DSCS, PTR or Unifier, Agile, Navisworks, and other automation tools used on Bechtel projects.
- Thorough knowledge of engineering deliverables, such as drawings and specifications.
- Ability to express technical issues in a clear and concise manner, both written and verbal.
- Ability to resolve design issues with subordinates, other engineering disciplines, construction, and the client.
- Experience working with procedures meeting quality assurance programs such as ISO-9000.
- Construction field experience. Work experience should emphasize the civil / site design of heavy industrial-type facilities.
- Advanced knowledge of field engineering processes, construction, safety, health and environmental related disciplines and worked in a similar compacity on previous projects.
- Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving ability.
