Due to continued growth, WesTrac is currently seeking Mobile Plant Mechanics to join our New Machines Team located at our Tomago Branch. This workshop has a team of over 100 employees and operates around the clock, building large-scale surface mining and construction equipment. New Machines is a dynamic, solutions-focused, and forward-thinking team who are passionate about delivering high-quality CAT machines to our large-scale customer base across the mining and construction industries.

As a successful applicant, you will play a vital role in the construction of a large range of CAT assets from 301.8 excavators, fleet of Off-Highway Truck (OHTs) fleets, and Dozers. Your extensive technical skills and expertise will be utilised to ensure the highest level of workmanship in a safety-conscious environment.

Roster & Remuneration 

  • Monday-Friday (48 Hour week + rotating days/nights)
  • Roster Pattern: 5D2O x2 5N2O x2
  • Hourly rate FROM $48.45 + OT FROM $72.68
  • *Rates above are a guide only and each candidate will be assessed based on competencies and experience*
  • What we’re looking for
  • Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology or Mechanical trade qualification with heavy industry experience.
  • Familiarity with Caterpillar surface mining equipment (desirable).
  • Experience rebuilding mobile mining equipment and/or components desirable.
  • Solutions focused mindset and ability to adapt to changing requirements.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
  • Unrestricted Drivers Licence.
  • Close attention to detail and ability to perform tasks to meet Caterpillar quality standards.
  • Team oriented with proven ability to meet set deadlines.
