Qualified and experienced mechanical fitters required for the mining industry on the West Coast of Tasmania!

Your new company

Our client is a long-established mine on the west coast of Tasmania and are continually committed to delivering health, safety, environmental and efficiency improvements across the operation.

Your new role

They have multiple roles available for mechanical fitters specialising in fixed plant and heavy vehicles.

As a Heavy Vehicle Fitter your duties will include:

  • Maintenance, service and repairs of plant machinery and equipment including light vehicles
  • Ensuring equipment service and repair records, and pre-start documentation are current and maintained
  • Undertaking maintenance checks and working with production technicians to minimise downtime
  • Adherence to site procedures and control of the mobile workshop area
  • Identifying improvements in systems and planning to ensure reliability and availability of the mobile fleet equipment.

As a Fixed Plant Fitter, your duties will include:

  • Undertaking unsupervised maintenance, installation, fault-finding and repairs on both surface and underground plant and equipment including crushers, conveyor systems and pumping systems
  • Responding to and resolving breakdown issues
  • A focussed commitment to safe work practices and compliance to site policies and procedures.

What you’ll need to succeed

With recent experience in the mining industry, to be successful you will hold a relevant trade qualification and have working knowledge of underground and surface diesel mining equipment, heavy industrial equipment or fixed plant maintenance. You are proactive and have a strong work ethic and focus on safety and adherence to policies and procedures. You have h ighly developed problem-solving skills enabling you to respond to and resolve breakdown issues in an effective and efficient manner.

These are permanent positions offering a 7 on / 7 off day/night shift roster, and you’ll work within a supportive and inclusive team. They cater for both residential and drive-in / drive-out options. A salary package including superannuation and benefits will be negotiated dependent on skills and experience.
