Reporting to Process Foreman, this position is vacant within the Processing Department and is responsible for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of all equipment in the Crushing, Grinding, Concentrator or Refinery Circuit; ensures all environment and safety standards and policies are being met and carried out in accordance with Barrick policies. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Communicate plant status and operating parameters to the foreman or delegate on the day to day running of the plant;
  • Work with other Supervisors and Foreman – Processing to coordinate equipment isolation, JHAs and permit issuing for plant shutdowns
  • Liaise with metallurgists on the day to day running of the plant to optimise recovery
  • Troubleshoot and report faults and take the necessary remedial and corrective action in the area of responsibility
  • Ensure operations assistance to weekly maintenance plan is adequate (Isolations, JHAs, Permit to work & recources)
  • Liaise with maintenance to ensure all downtime is minimised
  • Confer with Foreman – Processing to identify work situations requiring preventative or remedial training for trainee operators
  • Identify the risks in the work area and using the correct controls to minimise risks and downtime
  • Conduct general safety inspection in the area of responsibility and ensures all incidents and accidents are reported immediately
  • Ensure that adequate reagents are mixed and available in the area of work
  • Adhering to environmental procedures to ensure good housekeeping, resource conservation, spill prevention and the appropriate disposal of wastes
  • Ensure all environment and safety standards are executed in accordance with PJV policies
  • Uphold a high level of health, safety and environmental awareness, adhering to the PJV Occupational Health Safety and Environmental Policy, and following all related rules and procedures. 

The ideal candidate must have: 

  • The ability to communicate effectively across all levels with good communication skills 
  • The ability to perform at peak capacity in high pressure situations and be totally committed to safety at all times
  • Be willing to take instructions, learn, and respond with urgency.
  • Be able to perform at peak capacity in high pressure situations and be totally committed to safety at all times
  • Computer skills and experience in MS Word, Excel, etc. and good organisational skills.

Qualifications 

  • Grade 12 or above educational qualification 
  • More than 5 years’ experience in a gold processing plant and preferably in the Crushing, Grinding, Concentrator or Refinery circuit. 

Mobilization Requirement 

  • This position is open to Ipili and Engan, who have own accomondation in Valley 
  • Rotation is 14 days on and 7 days off
  • Adhere to Covid19 Protocols 
  • Must Have an up to date Police clearance Certificate (acquired within the last 6 months)
