About the role

Provide technical assistance, support, and expert advice on continuous improvement practices across to Fixed Plant Maintenance. Includes developing, coaching and mentoring other professionals and supporting the decision-making processes of leadership.

  • Adhere to all Rio Tinto standards, policies and procedures.
  • Actively foster and communicate a positive safety culture to promote safety awareness and compliance, encouraging prioritisation of safety in all activities and operations.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by identifying, evaluating and implementing improvement opportunities utilising a range of Rio Tinto best practices.
  • Collaborate closely with other functions and stakeholders in the performance of duties.
  • Lead, coach and develop a team of Fixed Plant Maintenance Engineering personnel.
  • Organise and manage the execution of Fixed Plant Maintenance Engineering work performed.
  • Ensure compliance to relative legislation, including statutory obligations.
  • Provide appropriate coaching, mentoring and technical support to the Fixed Plant Maintenance teams.
  • Support the engineering team to provide technical support and engineering to maintenance teams for a variety of fixed plant assets, including root cause, equipment failure and loss analysis.
  • Develop and maintain Asset Management standards

What you’ll bring

  • Knowledge of relevant Australian Standards, Regulations, Acts and Codes of Practice.
  • 5 years plus experience as an electrical engineer in fixed plant operations with a high degree of familiarity with fixed plant high voltage equipment including motors, variable speed drives, switchgear, power control, PLCs, SCADA and electrical instrumentation.
  • Demonstrated understanding of process control systems.
  • Experience in delivering continuous improvement initiatives / projects.
  • Experience in defect elimination processes and root cause analysis.
  • Demonstrate understanding of budget preparation, variance analysis, cost forecasting and cost drivers.
  • Experience in SAP and Power Bi will be beneficial.
  • Tertiary degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • A Current Western Australian ‘C’ Class Driver’s License (Manual)
