Our Opportunity

Location: Eliwana/Flying Fish, Pilbara region, Western Australia (90 km west of Tom Price), on the traditional lands of the Puutu Kunti Kurrama people.

Roster: 7 days, 7 nights, 14 off – FIFO from Perth and Busselton.

Join Fortescue’s new Flying Fish redesign at Eliwana, where you’ll be a crucial part of an exciting new team. As an Auto Electrician, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing large-scale mobile mining equipment, with a strong focus on the electrical components. This role offers you the opportunity to be at the cutting edge of the mining industry, as we implement new technologies and prepare for the transition to our Green Fleet.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and repairs on the electrical systems of large-scale mobile mining equipment.
  • Embrace new disciplines and skills to ensure the maintenance team is equipped for the Green Fleet transition.
  • Conduct diagnostics and fault finding on electrical systems.
  • Carry out workshop and pit duties as needed, ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently and safely.
  • Collaborate with mobile maintenance teams to ensure 100% compliance with maintenance schedules.
  • Adhere to Fortescue and site-specific safety procedures and policies.
  • Adapt to and integrate new technologies as part of the evolving mining operation.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Australian-recognised Trade Certificate as an Auto Electrician.
  • Previous experience in the mining industry.
  • Experience with mobile plant equipment, particularly with Electric HME, is highly desirable.
  • Strong commitment to safety.
  • HR Driver’s Licence
